A single status certificate or unmarried affidavit records a person's declared marital status. A marriage registrar or another authority in Bangladesh may ask an Indian applicant for this document before accepting a marriage application. The exact document can also be described as a bachelorhood affidavit, marriageability declaration or no-marriage declaration.
Bangladesh became a Contracting Party to the HCCH Apostille Convention on 30 March 2025, while India has been a party since 2005. The receiving authority should still confirm whether it requires an apostille for the particular document and whether notarization, prior authentication, translation or another supporting record is needed.
Important: Do not prepare the affidavit from a generic internet template. Obtain the required wording, validity period and signer/witness rules from the Bangladeshi registrar or other receiving authority first.
Timing and cost depend on the document source, drafting or notarization requirements, prior verification, apostille channel and return delivery. A case-specific estimate is provided after the document and destination checklist are reviewed.
See the affidavit apostille guide for general information, or contact Abrodex with the Bangladeshi recipient's checklist.
It may be the required authentication for an eligible Indian public document, but the receiving authority must confirm the document format, apostille requirement and any translation or supporting records.
The authority may request a single status certificate, unmarried affidavit, bachelorhood affidavit or another prescribed declaration. Confirm the exact format and wording first.
The original certificate or affidavit, passport copy, destination checklist and any case-specific marital-status records are commonly reviewed.
Timing varies by document source and required verification. A realistic estimate is available after document review.
