A Maldivian authority may ask an Indian applicant for evidence of marital status for a specified legal or administrative purpose. The requested evidence may be an unmarried affidavit, single status certificate, bachelorhood declaration or another prescribed record.
Maldives does not appear as a Contracting Party on the current HCCH Apostille Convention status table. Do not assume that an apostille alone will complete the process. Confirm the required Indian notarization, source verification, MEA attestation and Maldivian embassy or consular steps with the receiving authority.
Important: The Maldives Ministry of Foreign Affairs publishes conditions for document attestation, but the destination authority controls the format and supporting evidence required for an Indian marital-status document.
Timing and charges depend on document preparation, verification, MEA processing, consular requirements and delivery. Review is needed before estimating.
Review the MEA e-Sanad guidance, see our MEA attestation guide, or contact Abrodex.
